SCORM Content

Plan requirement

SCORM content is available on the Pro plan and above.

SCORM (Sharable Content Object Reference Model) is a standard format for e-learning content exported from tools like Articulate Storyline, Adobe Captivate, or iSpring. Upload the exported .zip package directly to a course.

Upload a SCORM package

  1. Open a course and go to the module where you want the content
  2. Click Add Lesson, give it a title, and set Type to SCORM
  3. Click Save — SCORM packages upload after the lesson exists, not during creation
  4. On the saved lesson, choose your .zip file

The platform extracts the package, uploads every file it contains, and reads imsmanifest.xml to find the real launch file automatically — you don't need to know or specify it yourself. A lesson with no imsmanifest.xml still works if there's a top-level index.html.

tip

Uploading a new package to the same lesson replaces the previous one.

How students experience SCORM content

When a student opens a SCORM lesson, the content loads in an embedded player directly on the lesson page — no separate window or download is required.

Navigation within the SCORM content (slide-by-slide, branching, etc.) is controlled by the content itself.

Completion tracking

Completion is tracked automatically using the SCORM 1.2 API:

  • When the SCORM package reports cmi.core.lesson_status = passed or completed, the lesson is marked complete in the platform
  • The student's overall course progress updates accordingly
  • If the SCORM package does not report a completion status, the lesson remains marked as in-progress

You do not need to configure anything — the platform listens to the SCORM API calls made by the content.

Troubleshooting

Upload fails immediately after selecting a file The file must be a valid .zip. Re-export from your authoring tool if it seems corrupted.

"Could not determine a launch file" The package has neither a resolvable imsmanifest.xml resource nor a top-level index.html. Check the package structure from your authoring tool.

Limitations

FeatureSCORM support
SCORM 2004Not currently supported — SCORM 1.2 only
Drip content (scheduled release)Not supported on SCORM lessons
Free previewNot supported on SCORM lessons

tip

If your SCORM package has its own built-in quiz, the quiz results are tracked within the SCORM completion data. Platform-native quiz analytics (separate quiz attempts, per-question breakdown) are only available for lessons of type Quiz, not SCORM.
